Brunelleschi's entry

Brunelleschi's "Sacrifice of Isaac" entry for the competition to design the north doors of the Baptistry in Florence.

Hi Skeels, I have been enjoying your blog and now finally I have gotten a glich worked out and can post.

I think I prefer this one by Brunelleshci. It is less fussy/more clear in its action and casting but mainly I think in the other one Abraham looks too angry/violent in his stance and action, I think like here he must of been determined but I have never really viewed it as a violent move but more one of determined love. I like how both artists have included the oblivious servents as a counter point to the moving action of the main scene. We tend to forget about them, it is a nice reminder that we miss out on alot of what God is doing around us.

I think I like the Brunelleschi best. The arm holding back Abraham is powerful to me. What fun to read your bolg, such vivid pictures for my mind...Sandyh
